Tom Nook is one of the first animals you meet when you arrive at your new town. He is very generous in giving you a house to live in but you must work for him in order to pay for it. Every time that you complete a payment Nook will increase the size of your house the next day, but Nook will charge you for all the extensions to your house. The last few extensions are very expensive, but when you have paid off all of the debts you will end up with a mansion as a house, with 5 rooms!

Also, just as importantly, he owns the local shop in your town which sells everything you need apart from clothes & personal accessories which are sold at the Able Sister's shop. When buying from Nook's shop you also help him to upgrade his shop and make it bigger. This helps you because he can offer more items each day. Also for every item you buy or order you gain Nook points which go towards getting the house models.

Nooks Cranny - You will have this from the time you move in.
Nook 'n' Go - Spend 25.000 bells in Nooks Cranny.
Nookway - Spend 65.000 bells in Nook 'n' Go.
Nookingtons - Spend 240.000 bells in Nookway and have a visitor buy something from your shop.
